Got enough stuff? Would you like to knit or crochet items for people who don’t have very much? Knitters and crocheters are invited to join our group of volunteers who make beautiful and practical items like knits, blankets, toys, scarves and hats for people in need; disadvantaged parents and children, homeless people, people living in aged care – in fact anyone needing some kindness and comfort. The wool is clean and new and is donated, so you only have to BYO some size 8 needles or a crochet tool. You can knit or crochet according to your interests and skill level while you have a cuppa and a friendly chat.
Newcomers are most welcome and beginners can start off with easy knitted squares in garter stitch (plain) which are crocheted together into beautiful blankets. All items made throughout the year are collected and distributed to people in need by Knitting for the Needy volunteers. Items are not sold or donated to Op Shops for sale. The $4 per week or $30 per term cover charge gets you a cup of tea or coffee and some of Hilda’s home made cookies. We’d love you to come along and meet the group and start knitting.
